We won! Paul Michael Company’s Lucia Deen, lead visual merchandiser, lead buyer, and head of Texas operations, won first place at the Holiday and Decorative Association’s National Christmas Tree Design Competition awards ceremony Thursday night.
Lucia’s winning look originated as a part of our website launch and was featured on the website and all marketing materials. You’ve probably seen it! She used a flocked Christmas tree as her canvas and incorporated burlap, wood, paper, pearl, and natural elements to create this rustic chic look. The tree fits the surrounding perfectly, meshing with the architectural salvage, reclaimed/salvaged objects, hard woods, geodes, and woodland artwork.
Lucia said, “Although this award has my name on it, it really was made possible by not only my wonderful co- workers from the Paul Michael Company, but also through the inspiration I have gleaned from the creative work of my fellow designers, Jared Blackmon and Ron Pepper. A big thank you to all of the PMC team!”.
Our Christmas designer, Ron Pepper, also won first place in the Best Use of Ribbon category.
The HDA invited industry professionals to compete for cash prizes in the 2013 National Christmas Tree Design Competition. The competition was open to design experts who perform work in residential, commercial, or retail environments.
